I ran into the woods today
as fast and as far…as my ghosts would fly.
Neither stone wall or vacant distant well…
Nor, earthen strewn leaf or Canterbury Tale…
None, I scream, none, but you would do.
There were no roaming voices
There had been no logging trail blazed
And, yet, the screams became my craze.
‘What is there? Who is there?’
As, I draw near to the fleeting footsteps.
With a twilight sweat careening my sight.
My screams are my fight.
Alas, you would not do.
Three crows circling and two gun shots…later.
I digress, you would not do.
You would not do…
what I would like to see done to you.
A coven of crows flying together is often regarded as bad luck. Many Native Americans believe it is also a sign that death from within the family circle is coming soon.
The crow is also watchful of intruders and predators. The sound it makes is characteristic of a loud, strident bird noise that can warn the other members of it clan over great distance. When you see your crow spirit animal, be on the watch.
