Idaho Inmates Out of State by Trevor Booth

Inmate Blogger

My state of incarceration (Idaho) has ran into the same issue they’ve had for decades; overcrowding.  I’m in a GEO prison in Texas about one hour from San Antonio with about 249 others.  We don’t have our property, it sits back in Idaho in some sort of storage.

There is tension among the population in regards to being uprooted and actually going backwards with the limited comforts we did have.  Communication with our loved ones has suffered; the calls are more expensive for less time, visits cost thousands to accomplish, and this current facility there is no email service.

Education is non existent, jobs are limited, and the supposed recreation is horrid.  Not only do we not have our property, but our ability to order what seems to be simple things like cotton swabs or daily vitamins is not an option.  Needless to say Idaho has currently sold this group…

Pardoning in the Woods

What if a pardoning?

From the trees…

that I do not see.

Forgiveness from the pines…

for my ignorance has been unkind.

An inch from an inch, from an inch.

So much more the lightened load from a darkened door.

Never a full all-knowing through a grapple or a grasp.

Wild is the wilderness that lasts.

Happiness in a Fool’s Paradise

The malcontent of American politics would dissipate if there were not such a need to place people in a box!

1- Do not feel absolutely certain of anything.
2- Do not think it worth while to proceed by concealing evidence, for the evidence is sure to come to light.
3- Never try to discourage thinking for you are sure to succeed.
4- When you meet with opposition, even if it should be from your husband or your children, endeavor to overcome it by argument and not by authority, for a victory dependent upon authority is unreal and illusory.
5- Have no respect for the authority of others, for there are always contrary authorities to be found.
6- Do not use power to suppress opinions you think pernicious, for if you do the opinions will suppress you.
7- Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.
8- Find more pleasure in intelligent dissent than in passive agreement, for, if you value intelligence as you should, the former implies a deeper agreement than the latter.
9- Be scrupulously truthful, even if the truth is inconvenient, for it is more inconvenient when you try to conceal it.
10- Do not feel envious of the happiness of those who live in a fool’s paradise, for only a fool will think that it is happiness.”

Bertrand Russell

Out of Town Trash

Perpetual surveying of the damage…now that spring is here.

White trash, multi colored rubbish.

No greenery to be found.

Just months before

high praise cometh for the northern town.

And, accolades were placed at the tomb of ‘do not park.’

I feel more native than most.

Having been…born at the pulpit of the father, the sun, the out-of-town ghost.

Indigenous Friend

Deep profound appreciation in those aquatic eyes.

No malice fur-lined.

Indifference in disguise.

Whether, wild, untamed, feral.

No written word to suffice.

Only man-made gestures to make what is captivating…

more comforting.

Agreeable and nice.
