Trap Doors

I am reminded of a place imperfect.

A setting of…’do not touch.’

Redemption songs on the radio…

unlit glory candles in shaded windows…

ill-mannered saviors on fabricated thrones.

Table scraps weak.100_1313

One way exits…wrong.

Just a cedar wall, splintered and used…I had never been that strong.

The voices…all…violently singing, ‘those were the days.’

Darker than dark.

Nights were ever so long.

Pastoral and enchanting…looking in.

Inside out, was I rummaging around trap doors with no key.

Spoiled?

Spare the rod?

Incriminate the child?

The older the branch…the more the rot.

Should I just agree…to our terminal lot?

I wish I knew you when you were young.

Seems to be an obvious reality…

I am not you…

You are not me.

Looking up while looking back.

A shaky and shady wooded mass.

Stood as a shelter for withered masks.

Perhaps, a down trodden maple

poising as a family staple.

Haltered from the bottom to top.

Bringing  obliged kisses ‘sleep tight!’

A full circle around Disney on a Sunday night.

Were you there, pretending to be just a little out sight.

Had you been my savoir…12 inches tall, dressed in black and white?

Sometimes my memories no matter how I talk to them…do not fit right.

Odd, back in the day, spiraled and wired brushes…all the rage.

Seemed that fad just reminds me of being betrayed.

‘Wait til your father gets home…’ is all I had heard.

Now, whenever a brush is combed and unfurled.

Late in the evening, when the life around us is not mine…

And, it is not yours.

I wonder if you are out there shaking the family tree for a cure.

In those small moments, after a rerun of ‘All in the Family’…

I think of you and wonder…

has she found the hour between suffering and serenity?

A California woman has defied the odds to become only the second person in the history of the game show Wheel of Fortune to take home the $1 million prize.
I wanted to have some fun and solve some puzzles – I feel like I’m in a dream.”
States the lovely contestant; Mrs.Erhard!
I had forgotten Wheel of Fortune! Misplaced my cue card somewhere back in 1997! How on God’s green earth is this show still around?
But it made me stop, look and listen. I have questions and I know I’ll never find all the answers.
Where is Vanna White?
Did Pat and Vanna have an affair?
Why is Pat still there and Vanna gone? Doesn’t that say something about our societies views on ageism and how men can be seen as distinguished and women? Well, they just sag and nag as the years pile on…get rid of them…stick ’em in a wax museum.
With Wheel of Fortune back in the tasseled lime light…my age began to get the best of me.
1. I thought Jean Stapleton had already died.
2.Steven Tyler, Mick Jaggar, Rod Stewart and a host of others should maybe put some thought into giving up on the ‘sexy’ rocker idea. Their grandparents for Christ sake.
3. Why is there a show about Amish people? What the fuck? If I wanted to watch a horse and his or her buggy I’d go to the county fair.
4. There should be a reality show called, Lesbian Swap! Now that would be a show to remember. Cat fighting and butch ball breaking.
5 Did I just hear a song about crashing cars in to bridges and feeling like a plastic bag?
Enough, is enough , is enough already.
Nonsense I say.

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.

I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care.

I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care.

You’re on a different road, I’m in the Milky Way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You’re so damn hard to please, we gotta kill this switch
You’re from the 70’s, but I’m a 90’s bitch

I love it!
I love it!

Icona Pop obviously never listened to ‘I left my cake out in the rain.’
But she’s a 90’s bitch and I’m a 70’s fool.
