Looking for Queer Money

What do you get when you mix groups like,  2 groups of One Million Moms?  Two million, too many!

Yet, it appears this group of upstanding and Christian women…are at it again?

Our goal is to stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.). Mom, OneMillionMoms.com is the most powerful tool you have to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at your children. It is time to fight back!

So, big box stores…Should you remain neutral on controversial issues?

New Boycott on the radar?  A young man bringing his boyfriend home to meet the ‘parents’ for the first time.

Let us not be dismayed.  Just a dating show at your local Walmart.  I wonder who will receive the final rose?

Need not worry. There will be more ads poorly written and strangely concocted about gay life.   Cottonelle, Walmart, Popeye’s, T-Mobile understands who butters the bread.  And, it is not whites, blacks, gay, straight, catholic, athesist:  It is green!

Hate Crime

Tell me where to turn.

Tell me where to be different.

Un-knife the knives.

Hooked

Take back the barren bats banging on a coercive black tar ground.

Let me, us, believe, this is hatred.

Hatred cannot surrender until it is unearthed, out in the open and left for the restless to kick around.

Kick around, back to centuries ago.

To a place where the ignorant refuse to grow.

the Ellen Show

For many years now, I have gone out of my way to not promote or watch anything linked to Ellen DeGeneres,  Wish raises eyebrows.  Being a proud lesbian, friends can’t understand my angst for the out of the closet celeb.  However, I believe she has lost touch with the one particular group (homosexuals) that have made her who she is today.  This story would be just another reason why powerful people may gain financially but lose ground with empathy.

Fans are outraged Ellen Degeneres tweeted support for an actor who is under fire for attending an anti-LGBTQ church. The tweets didn’t mention the actor’s religious beliefs and was a promo for an episode of her show where he was a guest.

Last week, Ellen Page pointed out that Chris Pratt – who loves to talk about how great his church is and promote his Christianity – goes to a church that’s famously anti-LGBTQ.

Pratt attends the Hillsong Church, a church that several other stars attend because it’s hip and has a world famous choir.

But the church also say that it does “not affirm a gay lifestyle” and refuses to hire LGBTQ people. The church also has a history of supporting conversion therapy and gay congregants have come out to denounce the church’s hateful teachings.

Pratt was on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Monday, where he did not talk about any of this, perhaps because the show was recorded before Page tweeted about Pratt’s church.

Instead, he talked about theme parks and played a game with Degeneres.

Yesterday, Degeneres sent several tweets promoting the segments with Pratt. Like this one, where she wrote, “Whatever @PrattPrattPratt is selling, I’m buying.”

Ellen and Rupaul have gotten so comfortable in the mainstream that they no longer relate to every day queer people. They’ve taken on the role of the token lgbtq person on tv and don’t want to make any waves.

**Last month, Degeneres came under fire for forgiving Kevin Hart for several violently homophobic tweets he sent, even though he didn’t even appear contrite.

Pratt defended his church earlier this week, saying that they accepted him and he’s straight and divorced, so clearly they accept LGBTQ people, or something.

We Don’t Serve Your Kind Here

As with the baker in Colorado, free enterprise has ventured into monetary moral judgment.

When I had been 16, I had been the cashier at a local movie theater.  Best job I ever had.  Having lived in a highly dysfunctional home, getting away to the world of cinema…was fantastic.

My duties were simple, take the money…give the ticket.  In the 80’s customer service did require that we smile and say, thank you. So pleasantries also were encouraged.   An unusual job requirement in this day in age.

Being from a small town, I had the wonderful opportunity to turn away kids I went to school with…that were not of legal age to see an R- rated movie.

I did not turn them away because of color (though New Hampshire is predominately white.)  They were not turned away because sexual orientation.  Not a one sent to the curb for the religious beliefs.

The only ‘schoolmates’ turned away?  Assholes, bullies, mean jocks, snobs!  Unpleasant persons who did not deserve to watch Animal House.

The case is part of a nationwide crusade by evangelical Christians to weaponize the First Amendment and religious freedom to defend anti-gay bigotry.

The Arizona Supreme Court will soon issue a ruling on a case brought by two evangelical Christian artists, Joanna Duka and Breanna Koski, who want to be able to refuse to make custom wedding invitations for same-sex couples.

Unfortunately for Duka and Koski, the city of Phoenix has an ordinance prohibiting them from doing so—and from posting a “We don’t serve your kind here” sign in their store, Brush & Nib Studio. So in 2016, they filed a lawsuit asking the court to block the city from applying the law to them—even though no same-sex couples had asked them to design a wedding invitation in the first place.

In Phoenix, it is unlawful to “refuse, withhold from, or deny to any person … accommodations, advantages, facilities, or privileges thereof … because of sexual orientation.” It is also unlawful to “display, circulate, or publicize or mail any … communication which states or implies that any … service shall be refused … because of sexual orientation… or that any person, because of… sexual orientation… would be unwelcome, objectionable, unacceptable, undesirable or not solicited.”

In other words, if you run a business in Phoenix, you can’t refuse to provide a service to gay people because they’re gay. And despite all the bluster in their complaint about God and running their business in keeping with their religious faith, that’s exactly what Duka and Koski want to do.

Plaintiffs in these cases have insisted that they are not bigots; they are simply exercising their freedom of religion. They argue that state efforts to ensure that LGBTQ people have the right to access services are tantamount to an infringement on that freedom. They just want to operate their businesses and remain faithful to their religious beliefs—including the belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Remarkably, Duka and Koski argue that they are simply “politely declining to create artwork for same sex weddings,” as if the manner in which they practice their bigotry—politely as opposed to maliciously—makes a legal difference.

But it is still bigotry at its most vile: the “we don’t serve your kind here”-style bigotry that civil rights activists in the 1960s fought against. Indeed, when it comes to the law, there is no difference between evangelicals in the 21st century using religion to justify discrimination against LGBTQ people and evangelicals in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries using religion to justify imperialism, slavery, and Jim Crow.

Trump and the Ryan White Program

Enough is enough #45!  There is little decency in this world.  Due to avoidance of facts and promotion of fiction.  This presidency has sparked a match in the hearts of haters.  We are now a country known for: stealing little children from their parents,  the mixing of church and state (with the mythical bible in the lead), womanizing,  misogyny, promotion of white supremacy…the list goes on and on.

Trump is stealing money from HIV programs to pay for migrant kids snatched from parents

A hallmark of the Trump administration is that after manufacturing a self-inflicted crisis, it will do everything in its power to make it worse. Now the administration is stealing money from HIV programs so that it can pay for its loathsome policy of separating immigrants parents from their children.

Slate has obtained documents showing that the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is already diverting funds from the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program to cover a budget shortfall caused by the separation policy.

ORR is projecting that it will need as many as 25,400 beds for minor children by the end of the current year. That would result in a $585 million deficit by the end of September, when the government’s fiscal year ends, and a nearly $2 billion shortfall by the end of next year.

The reason why ORR can grab money from the Ryan White Program is that the agency is part of Health and Human Services. ORR is also looking to take money from refugee settlement programs, including medical assistance and help for torture victims. ORR is headed by Scott Lloyd, an anti-abortion activist who also has a track record of homophobia.

The ORR projections apparently mean one of two things, neither of them good, or a combination of the two. It could signal that the Trump administration is going to rev up its zero tolerance policy and start separating chidren again after a 20-day waiting period has passed.

Trump’s executive order halting the separations is unclear on this point, although the outcry that forced Trump to change course would return with a vengeance if zero tolerance returned.

The other possibility is that ORR is expecting to be holding on to children for a lot longer than people think. Although a judge has ordered the administration to reunite children and parents as quickly as possible, the administration has been pleading for more time. An estimated 1,700 children are currently in government custody after being separated from their families at the border.

ORR’s move is entirely in character with the Trump administration’s disrespect for HIV issues. Last December, the administration fired its entire HIV/AIDS Presidential Council. Trump’s attack on Obamacare have also paved the way for insurers once again to charge more for people with pre-existing conditions, like HIV.

Still, it takes a certain kind of evil genius to combine cuts to HIV programs and tearing children away from their parents. Unfortunately for us, the Trump administration has a special talent for it.
