Hold the door, and, always say, Please.

In any bag of tricks we may carry.  Always pack humility!

Hold the door, say “please”, say “thank you”
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie
I know you got mountains to climb
But always stay humble and kind
When those dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride
But always stay humble and kind…

Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you
When you get where you’re going don’t forget turn back around
And help the next one in line
Always stay humble and kind

Everyday people…

worse off than me.

With the blessings, some days,

not so plain,

not so I can see.

I could pepper,

candid words…

with education bought but barely learned.

Analogies in a recycled plastic bags.

Refuse or re-use philosophies in a well used…consignment store tag.

Everyday awakened by the winter-bird.

Aroused by spring lyrics…dramatic an absurd.

Some days, I am not the woman, I hoped to be.

Always an art form…

this thing called,

A lifelong practice in the effort given unto futility.

Fools and Folding Money

“…who once thought, as we did, that humility was another name for weakness.  They helped us to get down to our right size.  By their example, they showed us that humility and intellect could be compatible, provided we placed humility first.  When we began to do that, we received the gift of faith, a faith which works.  This faith is for you, too.”

Where humility formerly stood for a forced feeding on humble pie, it now begins to mean the nourishing ingredient that can give us serenity.”

Fools and Folding Money

What is it that possession has…

What ownership can I go without…

Indeed my wants have always a need’s soul…

peppered in doubt.

There is no certainty for a tomorrow.

Just today, if we have made it thus far.

Humility will not arrive in a borrowed car.

While we look at ourselves and see…

we cannot defeat age.

A shallow poet’s rage.

It is a daily reprieve,

swapping want for need.

An inventory built on simplicity.

Today, a promise of more grit…less glory.

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”      -Ernest Hemingway

Stella and I

A cat will be your friend forever...as long as, you believe in one sided relationships.
A cat will be your friend forever…as long as, you believe in one sided relationships.

I wait for you by drudged day

by narrow minded night.

I sit on your pampered pedigree

with haggard plight.

Ass Up...Everybody!
Ass Up…Everybody!

Though to your guest

I am your best kept secret

best kept…

out of sight.

The shrink says,

‘let her go’

The priest beckons,

fancied feast are gluttonous

polished furs are confessions for down below.

I sit,

I’ve sat,

I pat.

I hold your every gaze.

Still to you

I am nothing but a human slave…

humility’s two legged mistake.
